Shemot (5774) – The Two Foundations of a Redemptive Identity
Shemot in many ways echoes the same images and themes that were present in Bereishit. Most significantly, we re-encounter the primordial snake and see the emergence of a new level of “naming,” of speech. Speech is the first and most essentially human act of Adam HaRishon, and we see how speech can lead us either to a recapitulation of the Sin of the Etz Hadaath or to its tikkun.
